About the AGM voting on the changes to the Constitution:
Please refer to points 5.5 and 5.6 of the SAOUG constitution:
SAOUG Exco would like to propose that we change the above to the following:
5.5 A chairperson may be appointed after having served for 2 years as a member on the executive committee. The chairperson may hold office in this position for two consecutive terms (four years) only. The outgoing chairperson shall serve on the Committee for a further two years of office in an ex officio capacity after which he/she may be re-elected as an executive committee member other than chairperson.
5.6 Members of the executive committee will serve for a period of 2 years and may be re-elected for further terms.
For the full constitution, go to www.saoug.org.za and click on Constitution.
About the talk: Engaging Clients through Web 2.0 Tools: The Education Library, University of Pretoria
The Education Library at the University of Pretoria is using Web 2.0 tools to engage its clients. The implementation of Web 2.0 tools are also one of the Department’s organisational strategies, and staff are constantly trained and encouraged to use web 2.0 innovatively in their daily work processes. This presentation will give an overview of how the library started implementing some of these tools and how different web 2.0 tools are used to engage its clients. A reflection on the effectiveness or failure of each of these tools will be given and lessons learned during the implementation of these tools will be highlighted. Tools that will be covered are blogs, wikis, Twitter, Flickr, Slideshare, Facebook, LinkedIn, Academia.edu, Google Earth and RSS Feeds.
