Madelein van Heerden and Adèle van der Merwe will provide an overview
of a
workshop that is regularly presented to end-users in the CSIR. The workshop
teaches users the principles of effective literature searching, focussing
on:
1. The stages of a literature survey
Tactical overview, i.e. questions that need to be answered before
you start with the survey
Resource selection
Search strategy formulation
The search
Evaluating results
2. Citations and reference style, e.g. how to cite an electronic
source.
This will not be a hands-on session but rather a sharing of ideas and
experience.
