Changing Users: Have they or should we? Prof Derek Law, University of Strathclyde A recent report on “Information Behaviour and The Researcher of the Future” by CIBER considers what the information landscape will look like to the “google generation” in 2017 and how this will affect the future of information professionals. The paper will consider this report and compare it with Prensky’s view of digital futures, will consider how far we are moving from a text based to an image based world where aliteracy is the norm and literacy an optional lifestyle choice. It offers a view of where information professionals should be placing their efforts as this environment develops.
